A new attempt. A different plan.

Well, taking a look at my 2011 365 project, it seems that I made it to about February. I posted a mind boggling 33 photos. I know, impressive.

I am trying a different plan this year. I was introduced to Project 52 by one of the many photographers I follow on Google plus. Project 52 challenges the photographer to take 1 photo per week to a G+ circle and offers a theme for each week. I will be posting my Project 52 photos here as well as my G+ page.

Enjoy.

She lingered for a moment at the window after he left. She just knew that his hand had lingered on the reins of his saddle for a moment before he threw himself onto the saddle, though he did not look back. Was the linger enough for her to regret what she had said to him in the parlor? A stiffening in her neck suggested no.

She closed her eyes, refusing to watch him turn the bend in the road. She would be the arbiter of his departure. Not him. Not this time.

A cracked window pane, neglected by her father, allowed the breeze to stir the air of the room. The wrinkles her grip had creased the lace curtain with began to relax and smooth. A pen sat idle in her hand and had dripped a bit of ink on the other wise unmarked journal in her lap. She marked time with her exhaling and only opened her eyes to the chiming of the clock in the parlor downstairs.

A detail of decay.

This is part of a broken sign on the lot of an abandoned car lot. What struck me is funny is that the lawn is both regularly watered and recently mowed.

For today's shoot, I am going with a guest photographer; my 3 1/2 year old son Jonathan.

We went to his first comic con (Inland Empire Comic Con in Redlands) and he was very excited when he got to meet Darth Vader. He asked for the camera from me and snapped this pic. This was not a lucky shot. He takes his time when shooting a picture. I think I might start a collection for his shots.

There is a theory that you must put in 10,000 hours into any field or pursuit to become an expert in that field. It seems that Jonathan is already logging his hours.

A long overdue upload

I spent a nice afternoon with the boys at Prospect Park in Redlands. This the theater that is tucked away next to a ticket booth that looks like a huge witch's hat.

We spent a good twenty minutes playing on the stage, which we had to ourselves. Jonathan decided that he wanted to tell an impromptu ghost story that he acted out on the stage. He likes to perform it seems. He then jumped off the stage and told me it was my turn. I had to turn "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" into a story. He also took a picture of me.

It was a good afternoon.

I thought some might be interested in the set up for my Star Wars "Bring Your Kid to Work" day, also known as Day 28 in my DJS365_2011 series. I used a matte painting of the Death Star I found online and used it as a backdrop on my MacBook Pro. I then used a couple of clamps and zip ties to create a lighting rig with my iPod touch. I found it makes a great softbox when used with a flashlight app. It was also the main light for my Day 27 pic, "A Quiet Moment of Repose".

I am concerned that these are becoming too abstract. On the other hand, there seems to be a flow from one to the next. I'm not sure.

Even babies need to sit down sometimes, these just need some help from time to time.

Sometimes I wonder if we should install these straps on bar stools as well as highchairs.

Well, upon the recommendation of a friend, this set will be things that people sit on. I am starting with the bench on my front porch.

I must warn you though. I don't know how I can complete this set without taking a pic of a toilet. Consider yourself fairly informed warned.

After yesterday's pic (day 13), I've decided to make time as my theme for this week.

Pay no attention to the date on the face of the watch; this watch hasn't run for at least two years.

I am also experimenting with iPod touch with a flash light app as a light source.

More to come.
